Hey everyone,
I'm struggling to find things to motivate me yo eat healthy and to workout. I'm a single mom to an amazing son and he's extremely supportive but lately I can't seem to find the drive to push myself. I don't have many friends to support me either.
So all this being said, I'm hoping to find support and motivation from you guys. Some people use apps for motivation and they look awesome. But I want to know what motivates you... and do you use any awesome apps to help out?
Thanks for the reading this and for any support and or motivation. (Friend requests are welcome)

My motivation is to be healthy for my kids but my immediate motivation is finishing a 5k that I'm running on April 14th. I was a runner/racer before two kids in two years and I'm back at it now and so glad I am.
Unfortunately, only YOU can do this for YOU. No one else can make this happen for you. Just decide you want to do it and don't let anything get in your way.
I don't use any apps except MFP and I log daily and make sure I'm showing my kids how to eat healthy and stay active. You can friend me if you'd like.1 -
"Motivation" - and "support", too - is a bit (lot) of a buzzword. If you want to lsoe weight, and get fit, you just do what it takes. Maybe your don't have to eat healthy and workout, maybe you can get the results you want just by eating a little better and moving a little more, but consistently, and maybe it's possible to do it consistently because it isn't that hard.1

While I understand the tough love “just do it” approach all too well, some people need a little something extra to get them going. Whether it’s a “how do you like me now” or a “me vs the world” stock story, use whatever fuels that fire.
For better or worse, my motivation is the opposite sex. As a single parent and law student my social life is *kitten*. I want to get my confidence back and get back out there!
Good luck finding the fuel for your fire, now get out there and kick some butt!2 -
My motivation comes from self hatred, more or less. I look in the mirror and see nothing but what I was before I lost these 47 lbs and am disgusted by what I became when I got too relaxed. So im on a continuous weight loss and muscle gain til I can take off my shirt in front of the mirror and not hate it. I want to look good for my wife, be healthy for my kids, but most of all, not hate myself and have no guilt.2

When I went to my 38 birthday checkup my doctor pretty much told me I was well on my way to being very sick, if not dead by 60. That was over 5 years ago and at that time I had a 2 year old and an infant at home, so that was pretty much unacceptable.
That gave me the motivation to get started...but really, motivation is an emotion that ebbs and flows...ultimately it comes down to discipline and habit/routine.
Also, I think a lot of people have issues because of an all or nothing mentality...and they also have a very myopic view of what eating healthy is and it's bland and boring and endless salads, etc. Eating nutritious can also be delicious...and you can still have pizza some times, just not all of the pizza all of the time.

My age (46) which is only a year younger then when my older sister passed away from heart failure . I want to be the healthiest me I can be. I need to be here for my kids a long time.
Of course other motivators are vanity, wanting to stay youthful, look good, and be strong5
