About how many days after a new exercise routine does it take for the water weight to dissipate? I'm up about 3 pounds and I know its water retention for muscle repair and all that, just wanted to know how many days it takes?
Yes I weigh and log all my food
My last weight lifting session was Sunday (lower body), My next one is today for Upper body

I don’t think there’s a rule here. When I started weight lifting I saw a bump that lasted a couple of weeks, while the bump after a tough cardio workout is usually gone after a couple of days. I remember someone posting that they don’t lose the water weight from heavy lifting until they finish their program. I think it just depends on your body.0

Well that's a bummer.1 -
It would depend on too many factors to put a time on it.
The temperature you worked out in, the temperature you've been in since, the salt content of your meals since. your hormones. Plus a lot more reasons.
There can't be a definitive answer. Just keep going, drink enough to keep your pee straw coloured and it will leave once it's done what it needs to do.0 -

I think it is and it isn’t. I’m losing weight slower than some, so a couple of pounds of water can balance out 2-3 weeks of fat loss, which definitely stinks. But on the other hand, it’s just a sign that my body is working the way it’s supposed to and my workouts are really challenging my muscles. Over on the maintenance forum people talk a lot about having a weight range instead of a single number, and that’s true when you’re losing also. That’s where trending apps come in handy. You’re doing something good for your body working out - try and focus on that, not a couple of pounds of water.0 -
You can continue to lose fat even while retaining a little extra water. Our bodies are about 60% water and you will always experience fluctuations in this area. I think its more educating ourselves about how our bodies work than getting bummed out based on inaccurate or unrealistic expectations. Daily weighing helped me to understand how such fluctuations work in "my" body.2
