What do you think of dr. Gundry's book and his way of diet?

A quick disclaimer, i haven't read it ( yet?). If it's a quack, i will not bother. But I'm sure that some people here are familiar with his theory, so i was hoping for informed opinions.

I haven't heard of him, but I just looked it up and it looks like your run of the mill plan demonizing certain foods for no good reason (no beans, potatoes, maple syrup, tofu, yogurt, cashews, vegetable oil, or oats . . . along with lots of other foods).

I'm pretty wary of anything asking you to part with your dollars and also selling their own line of various supplements.
Personally, I find it easy to just eat a lot of whole food nutrition...lots of veg, some fruit, lean proteins, good whole food sourced carbohydrates like beans, potatoes, lentils, etc and healthy fats while still enjoying pizza night on Fridays.
Is this the 5 foods you should never eat guy? That list is pretty ridiculous.4
