Reverse crunches, rib pain?

Has anyone else had any experience with rib pain days after doing reverse crunches or other ab exercises? Is it normal to sprain or pull something in that area doing ab exercises? I ask because after doing reverse crunches in my dance class on Wednesday I started to feel this awful pain in my ribs the next day that was not like normal soreness. I have always had scoliosis and somewhat of a lump on my left rib from it, but now I feel this intense rubbing from my ribs where it feels like it's rubbing on my internal organs or something like my rib is swollen! Is that even possible??
I'm going to the doctor tomorrow and I'm trying to more easily point out factors on what could have caused this the past few days, and so far the ab exercises seem to be the biggest culprit. Anyone else have any experience? Thanks.

Are you sure it's your ribs and not your ab muscles aching?

Positive. It literally feels like someone is pressing on my ribs hard now, and I feel like they are inflamed and rubbing on my other internal organs, like I said.
