TDEE

Hi everyone, I know there are a lot of posts and questions on here about this, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me why doing the TDEE-20% is better than following what MFP decides for you? Also, how I would go about accurately calculating it?
Thanks!
Thanks!

MFP is really bad at setting goals, they get macro nutrients completely wrong and are misleading for inexperianced people who dont know any better.
Calorie goals MFP are silly and the fact that the majority of people set the "2 pound a week" weight loss goal, this is far below -20%TDEE and is not optimal for maintaining muscle mass.
calculating is easy, simply use an online calculator and track from there, you can try and find the most accurate tools and spend ages thinking about it, but until you actually do it, there is absolutely no way of knowing your exact TDEE.
Example:
Most calculators told me my maintenance was 2800, MFP told me it was 2500... I started my bulk at 3000 and had to increase calories.. in other words, calculators were right, MFP was wrong.0 -
I do TDEE - 20% because my burns vary from 100-1500+ calories depending, and as I'm hypothyroid my metabolism is unstable and I don't want my intake to veer up and down like that. So I eat an even amount daily and create my deficit with burning calories rather than with eating a lot less food. That way I have more energy and consistency.0
