Yep, I'm a vegan runner. Currently running about 40 miles a week, but that should pick up when I begin marathon training later in the spring.2

Hey there! I'm currently taking a break from running due to a high hamstring injury (ugh), but I've been some form of vegetarian/vegan/plant based for the past 13 years, and have been running for about 7. I usually run at least 3 miles a day, but will sometimes run up to 7 miles, and I plan to start training for a half marathon once I've recovered from my injury1

awesome... marathoning not new for me but plant based is...as of Jan. Did it for health reasons. Also, on a mission to lose about 30 more lbs... would love to run another marathon this year but want to get rid of some weight first. Training with these extra pounds is not fun.1

The Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis/St. Paul. It's in October and I'll be doing it for the third time this year. It's an absolute delight, beautiful course and lots of energy from the crowds. It's also very well organized. I'm adding an additional challenge for myself this year -- they have a 5K and 10K the day before the marathon and I'll be running all three.
I've been vegan for about ten years and I've been using MFP since 2015. I lost about 40 pounds counting calories.
Am now using MFP to maintain because I find I enjoy the structure.

Awesome! I've had friends run that one and say its great! Good luck! I've done a 5K the day before a marathon in Chicago. Its doable.
Hoping to run a full in Dec...but like I said, need to get some weight off first.
I have lost 30 lbs before but have been up and down since. The struggle is real...esp when I am running heavily. Any suggestions losing while vegan? I am also trying to get my borderline blood pressure down.

I personally am a volume eater, so I ate *a lot* of vegetables when I was losing weight. Before I lost weight, I'd use rice or potatoes as a "base" for a lot of my meals. When I began counting calories, I switched to using things like roasted broccoli or cauliflower or shredded cabbage instead. It really helped me stay full and satisfied for fewer calories.2 -

I’m 100% WFPB and I run (and lift, walk, yoga, pilates). But I’m doing my first marathon in late October and have started focusing on training. My longest race to date was a half last October.2

@christyprunner it’s called April 2018 Monthly Running Challenge. It’s usually in the challenge forum but this month it’s in the fitness and exercise forum, the same forum as this thread.
