You can use it anywhere provided you have cell service. Then you can use the website.

The scanner should work. The scanner reads the lines, which return a series of numbers. The numbers are used to search the MFP public Food Database, instead of text. If another user has already associated that number with an existing MFP database record, the food item will be found. If not, you will be prompted to create a database record using the information from the nutrition label on the package. Since you have the nutrition information in front of you, you are the one responsible to enter it. When you create the item, it will become a public item that other MFP users can then scan into their Diary.

The scanner works everywhere. I am from Norway and now living in Spain, works both places
