Hi, my name is William and I am starting my weight loss program with myfitnesspal. Starting weight about 170 kg - 375 pounds. Have not found a scale to weigh myself, they usually go up to 150 kg - 330 pounds only. Years of depression (our dear son George Paul died shortly after birth) did not help either and the kg's piled up. Looking forward to comments and good advice.

I am sorry you had to go through such a hard time. Grief and depression are very difficult to overcome. Hopefully you are healing.

The first covers accurate logging and some of the tools in MFP to help you make things easier. The second discusses caloric needs and setting goals. These two posts completely changed my MFP experience and helped me be much more successful, so I hope they do the same for you.

Thank you 4legs for your reply. I have been on a very similar calorie counting website before and lost about 42 kg - or about 100 pounds. But depression is a nasty thing.... So I understand the basics but it's important to learn. The anti depressants had more and more side effects and since the doctor mentioned: "You'll be on anti depressants for the rest of your life"...I thought that I have to prove a point. I am now + - 18 months without medication - so far, so good. But I am careful, take it a day at a time. Regards from Cape Town, William0
