My friend recommended meditating before eating...

Anyone got any suggestions on that? Experiences?

What is the goal? Is it to get you present in the moment while you are eating? If so, you might eat slower and be more aware of the pleasures of eating.

Here is a mindful exercise for a raisin. I’ve also eaten a bagel mindfully.

I so far don't enjoy "mindful eating" but calming myself down BEFORE eating feels like it might support me in many ways, including less likely to do emotional eating, perhaps? Unlikely a full blow "mindful eating," I get to eat with and talk with friends during a meal.

Mindfulness can be practiced at any time of the day. Some people feel good about the practice. Doing so before a meal used to be what some people called a "blessing" or "grace."

Meditation has benefits, of course. It allows for one to ground themselves and become mindful.

I still say grace before most of my meals!
