Hi everyone,

Since I've been commenting in other topics I thought maybe it might be a good idea to introduce myself. Better late than never!

I'm a 46yo guy from Australia and at some point during the last 15 years I let myself go and put on a little bit of weight :)

3 weeks ago exactly I had a blood test because I had an infection. Anyway as part of that blood test it showed that my blood glucose levels were 24mmol/L, Hba1c was 8.8 and blood triglycerides were 7.9mmol/L. My doctor was a little bit angry at this and told me to stop drinking so many soft drinks (sodas) -- I was drinking about 10 a day (540g of sugar! ouch!)

So somehow I ended up at MFP later that same day and have been here logging etc ever since. I've given up the soft drinks (although I still have an occasional Coke No Sugar). Last week (2 weeks after giving up the soft drinks) BCL was 4.8, Hba1c was 7.9 (this surprised my Dr) and triglycerides were 1.7. So a bit better. It'll be interesting to see how things stand in 3 months.

Since I'm logging my food now anyway I decided to see if I could lose some weight. I've gone from 106kg to 101.3kg in 3 weeks which is pretty good I think. I don't know why I didn't start doing this eating better thingy years ago, I feel so much better! :)
