Feeling discouraged

Just had to try on bathing suits for a beach trip and it made my confidence go down! I have been working at this again for about a month and though it’s been slow, i have started to feel good. Today I needed some new suits for the beach and I can’t seem to fit anything other then an X-Large!! This is so frustrating and not to mention I look horrible in the bathing suits! Needing some new motivation to kick me back in gear.

Hang in there! We always want to see things, now! But, that’s not it works for people who have worked hard and maintained...it can be done! Stay honest and track...

Clothing sizes are total B.S....especially women's/ladies sizes. Don't let that get you down! Keep up the good work, you got this!

Not liking the way we look in swimsuits is pretty common among every population of women, regardless of age, weight, or how good other people think we look. We are hard on ourselves and see only imperfection. Don't be discouraged, think of the progress you have made so far, in only a month!

I was dropping in to say the same. You are not alone.

Do a little shopping around. Try some styles you may not have considered. You'll find something you feel more confident in. Don't worry about the size of the suit, just how it fits. Rip the damn tag out.

You don't feel motivated after trying on new suits?

Do you have an old swimsuit that you could wear around the house for a couple of days before your next shopping trip?

If you have spent the winter bundled up it comes as a shock seeing so much of your skin (it does for me anyway), so get use to seeing yourself in mirrors around the house- it helps honest.

You may also want to get a self tanner and use it a couple of days before you shop, if you are a person that likes to get a little tan.

( can you tell I have just had to do this for a recent vacation B) )

Don't worry about the size, concentrate on fit, style, colour, pattern. Do some web browsing to see what styles etc are available and try a good variety.

Carry on feeling good and be determined, not motivated, to reach your goal.

    Cheers, h.

Look at what is going on in your head.

Our brains seem to be constantly on the lookout for anything it can use to get to “not good enough.” Even if our brain has to misrepresent the facts to get there, the brain really wants to get there. Because it’s a short step from “not good enough” to “why bother?” Then quit.

Our brains hate change of any kind, seems they hate weight loss in particular.

Plus, weight loss can be a long and complex process for anyone trying to lose more than a few pounds. This gives our brains countless opportunities to do us in.

I urge you to consider this. One month is not a significant amount of time in weight loss. You shouldn’t jump to conclusions based on one month. A moderate calorie deficit, supported by a food diary, over time will get you what you want.

Don’t let the time factor wreck you. Don’t let your own brain discourage you. You say in your post that you are feeling good about what you’re doing, focus on that. The bathing suits will get better with more time.

Motivation doesn't work the same for everyone :)

But hey, maybe today she does!

    How you feeling OP?

I am doing this day by day for the bikinis. I welcome more friends. If you are looking for a quick fix, limit salt, processed food and anything that makes you bloated 3 days prior to wearing your bikini. Something else to think about, for short (5’2”)people like me 5 pounds is the same as a dress size. 5 pounds can easily be lost in 2-3 weeks.... something to think about! You got this!!
