Accuracy of data?

While some of the information about nutrition and calories seems "reasonable" there are disturbing inconsistencies. For example, I looked up the nutritional information for 150 grams of breakfast sausage and got estimated of 400, 607, and 1,176 for the same weight. In other cases estimated from metric measurements (g) gives different estimated that the english equivalents. Perhaps less but more accurate reference data would be useful.

Much of the database is user submitted. That means there are a number of errors. Also, there have been instances where nutrition data labels were misprinted, and perhaps someone entered that information without thinking whether the numbers made sense. There was a thread here where someone looked at the numbers on a nutrition data label and they didn't make sense. The contacted the manufacturer and found out the number was misprinted. Then there are certain foods that seem to go off the rails in terms of there information fairly frequently. There is a way to report items that are incorrect, but I don't know what it is. I simply look to see if the number makes sense. If it doesn't, I make an addition to my private food list.

That's why you need to double check all of the entries you use for accuracy. This is easier to do on the website imo, i always add new foods this way rather than use the app - checking then editing or adding a new entry if necessary is possible.

Creating personal food lists is an obvious solution for common items used.

That's what I do. I enter everything into My Foods without sharing with the database so that I can have custom names, my preferred units, and I can know that the nutrition info is correct and can't be edited by someone else.
