Protein shake before bed

I usually workout at around 9-10pm so I take my protein shake right after I workout when I get home which is around 30 mins after working out and I sleep at around 1130. Is it bad to sleep right after you take a protein shake?

You don't need protein powder if you're consuming enough protein in your diet through whole foods, but if you're not protein powder can help you make up the difference. If that's the case go with casein protein as opposed to whey, and it doesn't really matter when you consume it, as muscle protein synthesis rates are elevated for about 36 hours after resistance training.5

Will try casein after I finish this new whey protein I just bought0 -
No. I love a protein shake 30 min before bed. Fills my tummy up.2

No.
I occasionally have one before bed if I'm hungry and my protein macros have not been met for the day.
I've experienced no digestion of sleeping problems.
Go for it.2 -
It's fine. Don't overthink it. Workout, have your shake, sleep well.3

I often mix some protein powder in with hot chocolate an hour or so before bed, the only reason it becomes a problem is if it affects your sleep (some people have issues with digestion eating too close to bed time).

I find its better to have real protein (meat, fish etc) before exercise. When I get back I have a treat (cake, digestive biscuit) with a cup rooibos tea. Unless you have trouble eating enough protein for some reason - I've never found it difficult but I suppose some digestive issues might make it easier to digest a processed shake than a glass of milk and a chicken sandwich.1

I would think you'd have more problem sleeping from the late workout than from the shake. For myself, working out late keeps me awake.0

I sleep like the dead after a late workout, often run late in the summer. Each to their own.2 -

Yup, I need time to wind down after a workout too.
Also, drinking after dinner would make it even harder for me to sleep through the night without being interrupted by my bladder.1 -
A protein shake right before bed?? Very dangerous, it could trigger an explosion. Or maybe I'm just kidding.4
