Has anyone done allergy testing? Results?

Hey yos,

I found out I have high cholesterol, and someone suggested it could be related to a food allergy. I'm thinking about doing a blood test for allergies, and/or use my Emwave to do HRV testing after meals to test for variance. Anyone have experience/advice with either? Thanks! :):)

Also - I'm starting a Quantified Self group on MFP. QS nerds, PM me/friend me or join if you want to join!! :)

    ...I'm allergic to work.

No seriously, I was allergic to a host of things as a kids, and I outgrew mosts.

i was allergic to soy, milk, and eggs.

I also come from a family with a history of high cholesterol and mine is fine now (and i eat all the foods I just mentioned almost daily).

i did a scratch test for the top 60 allergens and i have no allergies. however, if you think you have a food allergy, it could be a delayed-onset reaction that is very hard to test for.

the process took about an hour and was slightly uncomfortable but didn't hurt.

I did a 60 point scratch test and I'm allergic to all animals, everything outdoors, and most antibiotics. It was one of the worst experiences of my life, my back felt like it was on fire and I started going into spasms.

My brother took a 40 point scratch test on his arm, didn't react at all and was just bored for an hour. Go figure.

I had an allergist do a full panel on me a few years ago, it completely changed my life. By removing my top 2 food allergens I've managed to keep the overall swelling in my body down. I'm uncertain about a link to cholesterol and dietary allergies, but it's worth a shot, right?

Yeah, I actually did the scratch test when I was 17. Wasn't too bad for me, didn't find very dramatic results but I hit a 1-3ish on some items. I heard the blood test can be more reliable, but more expensive..

@bynsky, glad+ encouraging to hear you were able to lower yours! :)

My friend lost 8" on his waist by avoiding nightshades, once he knew he was allergic... motivating!
