Hiya , I’m 40
Years old , 17 stone and 5ft 6 . I care for my autistic kids so don’t do much exercise . Mfp gives me 1700
Does this seem About right ?

It could be. How do you feel on 1700cal? That's probably the best indicator without knowing the rate of loss you picked and what activity level. I would guess though you could probably be considered lightly active.0

Exercise doesn't factor into your calorie calculation, it's about your none-exercise activity level, if you're on your feet a good portion of your day then you want to go with at least Lightly Active which accounts for around 6000 steps per day. Sedentary allows for around 3000, to give you an idea, I get in around 800 steps just getting ready for work and around 1500-2000 in the evening just pottering around my apartment doing housework and making dinner in the evening.
Presumably based on your stats you've chosen Sedentary and 1lb per week loss?
