Overall, how many carbs, protein and fat should you be having per day? On a 1400 diet? Percentages?

It really varies by goal and preference but I will tell you I lost all my 40lbs without giving a hoot about my macros. I just watched my calories and learned along the way which foods for me meant I felt full and well.

Thank you.... I’m trying so hard, but when logging my foods in here it says I’m eating too much fat from hummus, almonds and almond butter. I thought this was better than eating more carbs? Now I’m wondering if I should cut back on these fats and just eat plain chicken for every meal.... ugg

It's better if it makes you full and content and within your overall calorie goal for the day. If eating more carbs does that, then feel free to eat more carbs. I'm generally high on carbs, low on fat and middling on protein. I have basically what I want to eat, and if it's too calorific I'll cut the portion of whatever down and bulk it up with something more benign - like a cup of rice is teeny so I'll bulk it up with a veggie mix or cauliflower rice or something. Eggs too many cals for the morning, add some egg whites only. Can't eat a 250 cal bagel, get some mini ones and have some fruit on the side.

A healthy diet is balanced and varied. A varied and balanced diet is tasty and easy to stick to. A healthy relationship with food is taking care to get in good nutrition, but also confidence you're feeding youself well, and allowing yourself pleasure from food. I strongly suggest you turn off those "notifications".

Macro ratios are pretty individual...they don't really matter for weight management. They matter for fitness performance, satiety, and body composition.

You can change your macros to however you want them to be. There's nothing particularly special about MFPs default macro settings. Going over or under particular macros isn't a big deal...focus on the basics first...calories...calories are what matter for weight management.
