The day I Started was March 12th 2018 and on the first day I failed!
How did I fail?
Well that morning I weighed myself and said self you are going to do it today you will log all your calories and be mindful about what you are eating. Well that day I started off ok but I got free food from work and though how can you pass up free food and I didn’t log it. By the end of the day I felt really bad about how I couldn’t even do one day. So that night I thought about will power and how could I go through college and get a challenging degree but not be able to fix my eating habits. Now feeling sorry for myself I said I do have will power and I can do this and so I did.
The first week was the worst week and the best week of my life! On March 13th I started logging everything I eat, learned to say no to free food at work and went out shopping for good health foods. Did I feel great each day I was eating healthy foods? No I didn’t feel great the only time I felt good was thinking about how yesterday I did great not the day of.
I made it through 1 week of eating healthy POW and lost 10lbs so what now. Well I decided to go see my doctor to get medical advice before I went any further with my weight loss. The person I saw isn’t a doctor but a nurse practitioner. What I expected and what I got were two different things. What I expected was for her to say you should go on this diet and work out this many times a week. What I got was completely different she wanted to know if I would like to go on a diet pill to which I responded with “no I want to lose weight naturally and eat how I should for the rest of my life. I just need advice on how to do this because I’m not all that educated in health.” Well she said that she wouldn’t be able to give me any advice but she can refer me to a nutritionist which I said “sure if they can help me.” She also prescribed me phentermine because she wanted me to try it for a month and she said she was also taking these pills that they would help with hunger and give me more energy. Well I said sure why not if you think that these would be ok. Mind you I’m not one that knows anything about drugs I’m really uneducated when it comes to drugs and alcohol.
The next two weeks get easier
After the first week it wasn’t so hard to say no to food and the pills my doctor gave me really did make me not feel crazy hungry and I had so much energy that I stopped drinking caffeine. You would think these are awesome pills but they are and they are not. I’ve started getting stomach pain from the pills and feel really gassy also I have acid reflux that’s started back up. I’m not entirely sure if I will continue these pills after my prescription is over because they have gotten me through some of the first hunger pains.
I was able to see the nutritionist on my third week of losing weight by this time I had lost 15lbs and she said I was losing weight too fast. I told her all I’m doing is eating healthy I’m walking between 4,000 – 8,000 steps a day. She suggested that I start walking at least 10,000 steps a day. As for food she gave me a plan which is eat
Breakfast: 300 cals
Lunch: 400 -500 cals
Dinner 500- 600 cals
And snacks to be about 200 cals
Well I have some sort of eating plan now and she gave me meal ideas which most of them I don’t really like but I would give some a shot. She was not pleased about the pills my doctor gave me and wanted her name so she has a record of who’s giving these out. I told her the doctor’s name and reschedule another meeting with her for May. Which I will post about if anyone will be interested
What I learned?
Well I wanted someone to say here do this so I didn’t need to put any effort into researching for myself. I have done plenty of research now it feels like I’m in school again. I know you shouldn’t but I weigh myself every day and weight does fluctuate so just hang in there and stay motivated and the scale will go down. I’m not on a diet, I’m just being mindful of what I eat and how healthy it is for me. I now feel good enough to start exercising I think I will post some of my first trial and errors with that next time.

Hi!
I am also trying to loose weight in a healthy/ easy to mantain way, altough I researched pills, but since most of them are based on caffeine, i decided not to take them.
I would recommend not to measure your weight everyday, I am very anxious, so i had to take of the batteries out of the balance.
Good Luck!0 -
Interesting post. Thanks.
Just wanted to say - I DO weigh myself every day. And enter that weight into a weight-trending app. Happy Scale for iPhone, Libra for Android.
I found that I do better when I understand my body and its responses to certain things. I now know that spaghetti for dinner equals a couple extra pounds of water weight on the scale the next morning. Flying causes me to retain water weight for several days. So does alcohol. I wouldn't know this if I didn't weigh every day.1
