    If the "gossip" is true - then it is not really gossip; however, what kind of friends discuss you behind your back - I wouldn't consider them "friends". And then you have to ask yourself why their opinion matters to you since they clearly aren't your friends to start with. Remember junior HS with it's cliques - and one person is in one day and out the next? I would never let anyone have that kind of power over me as an adult. If your perceived friendship only exists in cyberspace and not in real life - you have to yourself who these people really are. Sometimes people create a friendly online personality, but in person they are unhappy passive aggressive people or manipulators. You can't let it get to you.
