Can you make your own protein powder? Or just buy what's in the store?

I wanted to try adding something that can give my diets and workouts a little boost. Never tried one before and don't know what I'm looking for...

Just buy some protein powder or eat protein rich food.

Powders are all about the same IMO. Cost is the major factor to me. I just buy the one w/the most protein per unit for the lowest cost.

However, there are many threads on MFP asking for protein powder recommendations. Just search for them

You could try to produce some whey, which is a milk by product used in most protein powders, by making cheese.

You'd then have a lot of cheese (ricotta would be the easiest to make) and can then just drink the remaining water w/whey in it.

Way too much trouble to try to separate the whey from the water and convert it into a powder by drying.

I just drink the whey water straight or mix it w/protein powder, whenever I make ricotta, for a double dose of protein.

    Waste not, want not.
