Twinge in elbow area when doing push ups

When I do push ups, I get a strange twinge in the area of my elbow - on top of the joint and somewhat into the forearm.
It's not painful, but I find it annoying. The best way I can think of to describe it is that the muscle sort of twitches and/or creaks. Mmore so I think, on my way up. Anyone know what this is? It's been happening for awhile, and it's not injured, nor have I had any significant pain there. But to use a childhood phrase: "it gives be the heebie jeebies."

That's weird, I have one shoulder that pops even if I try shifting my hand position. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can give you an answer.1
