My name is Amanda. I recently joined MFP because I'm tired of being fat. Just a little background: In 2014, I was overweight at 176lb (I'm 5'5") before I got pregnant. After giving birth to my son in 2015, I was 163lb. Unfortunately, it all went downhill from there due to an unhealthy, lazy lifestyle where I snacked pretty much non-stop on junk food when I was bored, tired or "hungry". As a result, in 2017, I weighed in at my highest weight of 238lb and maintained this throughout the year. I'm currently 230lb.
I have to lose weight. I don't carry the excess weight well at all. Some people still have a nice jawline even when overweight/obese but my round face can't cope. I have a massive double chin in photos. I don't like how I look. I have very low self-esteem because of this and last year, fell into a depressive mood where I would rarely leave the house. More importantly, I need to be healthy so I can be around for my son, as well as keep up with him.
I tend to be a perfectionist in general, so I've had many do-overs where I say 'I'll start next week!', etc... This has got to stop. I'm working towards forgiving myself for slipping up where my diet is concerned. Previously, I would degenerate into a binge as I felt the day was "ruined". Recently, I came across a comment on Reddit where the commenter mentioned that 'Our bodies don't reset at midnight.' This was quite insightful as it made me realise that it does make a difference when we eat healthily at the next meal and I don't have to 'wait' until the next day to start 'afresh'.
As for strategy, I am counting calories as well as doing the keto diet. Yesterday, I managed to stick to my calories (1400cal) but not my carbohydrate macros. So that's a start
.
I hope to lose around 110lb to reach my goal weight of 120lb. It's going to be a long journey but time will pass anyway; I might as well start yesterday
.
P.S. Add me as a friend if you're in the same boat!
