Calorie adjustment & linking with Fit Bit

Hi, I'm very new to MFP so please bear with me if I'm asking a daft question ! I have linked my fit bit to MFP however am concerned that it is giving me double bubble on the 'bonus' calories. I am adding my exercises classes on MFP (primarily spinning so FitBit isnt counting steps for it) and being given the 'bonus' calories then being awarded further 'bonus' calories for the number of steps Ive done that day. Is this double counting (and therefore overeating)?
Eg On Saturday i did 10,179 steps and was awarded 185 calorie adjustment. I also did 2 exercise classes
Sunday 11,058 and 136 cal adj - no exercise classes
Monday 16,380 and 442 cal adjust - 3 exercise classes
I am burning more calories obviously when I'm exercising but it seems that my fit bit bonus calories are also being awarded for my exercise and not just my steps. You will see that on Sunday I did more steps but got less calorie adjustment than Saturday.
If anyone can digest that waffle and help me I'd be very grateful. Currently considering just unlinking my fit bit to be safe.
Many thanks
Kx

Nope. That’s right. FitBit calculates your total calorie burn from all your activity. The adjustment from MFP subtracts what it thinks you’ll burn, including syncing up what you enter for non step based exercise, from what FitBit says you burned in total.

A lot of people find they’ve underestimated their activity level, what do you have yours set at? Should be at least lightly active. Also enabling negative adjustments will ensure that if you do have a Sedentary day, then you get less calories from MFP, like if you’re sick, on a road trip, etc.

I would give it a few weeks and be conservative at first about eating back ALL the calories till you know if it’s accurate for you but that sounds exactly right to me. I’ve used FitBit and MFP for several years, while losing and now in maintenance and the adjustments have always been accurate for me.

Thank you both very much. I’m not eating all the calories it’s crediting me with just yet, will definitely keep an eye on it for the first few weeks. Will take a look at those links too, thank you
