Changing starting weight

Since staring on my weight loss journey in January, I’ve lost 20 pounds so far with a 1200 calorie diet. Do I need to change my starting weight now? Or continue with the 1200 calorie limit? I have 26 more pounds to go to get to my goal of 125. Thank you in advance

You don't need to change your start weight but it is worth reviewing your rate of loss, you should consider dropping down to 1lb per week if you haven't already.1

I think there might be a bit of confusion from the way you asked the question. You asked if you need to change your "starting weight". I think you just want to know if you need to update your current weight in MFP, and the answer is a resounding yes.
On the main page (web version) go to "Setting" and "Update Diet/Fitness profile".
Anyway, don't change the starting weight, but change the current weight (second line on the page). This will have MFP recalculate your calorie needs based on your new weight (so a bit less than it was).
You need less calories to maintain your current, lower weight so you need less to continue to lose. But with ~25 to lose, you should be at ~ 1lb per week.

I was surprised that MFP didn't update your 'current' weight (with the associated calorie adjustment) when you did an official weigh in.
Not too much of an issue really. It only takes a second to update it, was just surprised that this hadn't be written into the code or scripted in some fashion.0 -

Myfitnesspal definitely changed my calories when I lost every 10 lbs, which makes sense. However I had been enjoying all the calories allotted to me and felt a bit cranky the first time I had recalculate my meals to be within my new limits.
When I was nearing the 20 lbs lost weight, I remember entering a lower weight (that would have put me at 21lbs lost) to see what the new calorie limit was so I could plan accordingly and see if I thought it was doable.
Sounds like if you haven't been logging your weight in myfitnesspal there might have been a kink in the system.0 -
Ahh. Maybe I'm just being impatient then and not giving MFP a chance to update before I go in and change it myself.
I'll leave it be and experiment over the next few weeks/months and see if that's the case.0
