Beach Body (BB) Shakeology question

Few questions:
1) Did you feel as if you were starving once you stopped drinking the supplement shake, provided you eat same amount of food when you were on beach body program.
2) Would you join BB, if you already have gym membership. Is there food plan easy to follow.
I have a friend who is BB coach asking me to buy beginners package and I am trying to figure out whether I should or not. I am not consistent at measuring food.
Any other thoughts are welcome.
TIA.

You should only buy it if you want to help your friend out financially.13

Spend your money on real food. If you absolutely positively need protein shakes there are cheaper options online or in a health store. BB is nothing more than an expensive MLM program. Get a food scale, start logging accurately, learn good habits now and enjoy your weight loss when you get to goal.6

I haven't used shakeology because there is much more economic choices available to me, without having to buy it from someone I know. Or rather - I can walk into a store and have a vast selection of choices, and not be reliant on one person to bring in what I want. However, I do use protein shakes to boost my calorie/protein requirements when necessary. If I consumed the same calories and didn't drink the shake, I'm sure that I would be hungrier.
I wouldn't join BB if I was already participating in a gym membership. I am not their target audience, in that I don't want someone to tell me what to eat (I'd rather make my own choices).
If you are not consistent with measuring food, what is it about the BB program that makes you feel like you might be successful at it? I am asking you to be introspective, not to be mean or talk down the company at all.
Further - what does your friend get out of it? Sometimes when a person is part of a company and has a direct benefit from signing up another person, they can be blinded by their own goals and not be as considerate of the person they are signing up. Why is this program, that you'll have to pay for, going to be more successful for you than counting calories and using your gym membership? Again - not trying to be harsh, because I do believe that some services are worth paying for (I have a gym membership, I pay for a powerlifting coach and a macro coach, which loads of people would tell me that I'm wasting my money... but it works for me)... I just want you to really be sure that this will work for you, and be sure of the reason WHY it will work for you.2 -
Love BB programs but I will not buy their supplements. I am currently working out with insanity and go to the gym for weights.2

I enjoy B.B. workouts when I can’t make it to the gym. I’m not a fan of shakeology. I found a much cheaper shake that meets my needs better through Amazon for $15 a month that I think tastes better. As for the food plan I haven’t tried it. I do ok with weighing and logging my food. I bet the containers could be helpful just starting out because it’s a form of portion control and balancing nutrition. The thing that worries me about the food plan is it only has two levels with the containers sized and for me my calorie needs change ever 10-15lbs0

Beachbody is a pyramid scam, also known as multi-level marketing (MLM). Shakeology is overpriced garbage. The only reason to buy in would be if you feel like giving money away to your friend for inferior products. You could buy better and cheaper products at any nutrition store without all the slime associated with MLM. Even their color-coded food containers are overpriced, you can find the same thing on Amazon much cheaper. And don't even get me started on how their shake peddlers call themselves "coaches" without any education, training or knowledge necessary to earn that title.
Here's a great read from a pharmacist about what a junk rip-off Shakeology (aka "Snakeoilogy") is: http://pharmadaddy.blogspot.ca/2013/07/shakeology-shaking-up-its-foundations.html?m=14 -
Never ever ever spend money on a multilevel marketing product.2

1) I personally wouldn't choose a shake over food if that's what your plan is because you have difficulty with measuring, particularly if you don't plan to drink them forever. I gained weight because I completely disregarded proper portion sizes. I'm using my weight loss phase as an opportunity to learn how to weigh and measure food and understand portion sizes so that I can maintain my weight loss once I get there. If you have a hard time measuring food, maybe try harder with that? Plus MFP offers everything I need for free. Why would I spend money on a predatory pyramid scheme?
2) I wouldn't choose BB over a gym. I'm not a fan of any of the workouts. I also don't need a food plan. I can eat the same food I've always eaten and lose weight by logging my meals FOR FREE with MFP.1 -
Thank you all for your input. I have not been consistent in logging and weighing. And hence do not see the results I would like too. I am thinking, I need somebody to be accountable to like a coach with whom I can talk to everyday to keep myself on track.0

Then find a real coach, not a shake peddler who knows nothing about nutrition, training or physiology and is just going to try to sell you snake oil. Beachbody "coaches" are not coaches in any sense of the word. If you go read their Coach FAQ on the Beachbody page, they straight out say that no knowledge or training is required - just your $39.95 annual fee and voila, you're a "coach"!8 -

Beachbody "coaches" have no training in helping a person achieve fitness goals or "keeping them accountable". The only accountability a Beachbody representative has is to meet their next sales and recruitment target, and they are told to lean heavily on friends and family.
Most sales reps run out of people in their network before ever getting a cent in profit.2 -

I know a couple of them like that. They went all in on the coaching thing and spent far more money than they ever earned from it, going to Beachbody conferences, seminars, etc., buying products, giving away "samples" to try to get people on board, etc. One of them lasted about a year and a half before giving up, I think the other one may still be struggling along trying to keep their head above water (I haven't checked lately).
They were also unfollowed/ignored on social media by most of their friends and family members due to their incessant sales pitches and product hype blasts. The "coaches" also tend to get banned from forums, many of which have strict rules in place about advertising and/or soliciting/recruiting other members (speaking in general terms, not addressing any forum/forums in particular).0 -
The shakes are really expensive. If you wanted to replace meals with a shake, I’d just use a protein powder like Optimum or Vega. But that’s a big IF. I do like the portion aspect of the 21 Day Fox, but you could just buy the containers from Amazon or use regular measuring cups. I did find some good recipes on Pinterest for that plan that I still use.
But I’d stay away from coaches and any shake that costs that much money!0 -
OP, I don't talk about it much here out of mortal embarrassment, but before I came here and learned how things really work, I was a BB coach. I got talked into the shakes and told I could help others get fit by becoming a coach for a short time. I got no training on nutrition or fitness. None. All the training was how to sell Shakeology and then flip those customers into coaches, and how to set up your down line to make more money. I was disgusted to see they were basically training me to do to others what was done to me .
The BB workouts are great in my opinion, but the food plans tend to be boring and not enough calories.
Buy less expensive protein powder and throw it in the blender with some greens, oats, and chia seeds and take a multivitamin with it, and you'll be getting far more for far less than Shakeology. You don't even need shakes though, you can do this just eating regular yummy food.
Get a food scale, log accurately and consistently, and maybe look in the Introductions or Getting Started boards for a buddy to team up with for accountability.
Good luck!7 -

This idea is nice, but the only two answers to this are to either pay someone (which gets expensive) or chance on someone who may or may not keep up. To me it's more worth it to find motivators that don't rely on others so much because even the most well-intentioned can drift and then you're on your own again. But that's me.

@AnvilHead Thank you I swear I think I spend as much time here as I do out of penance.5
