So, these last few years have been tough. I managed to get down to 115kg about 3 years ago, but then I got very unwell (later found out it was mould-related respiratory disease) and then had to take on both my disabled parents full time as well as working full time as a high school teacher. I turned to food for comfort (shocking, I know) and gained 30kg. I was struggling with daily headaches, exhaustion, and chronic inflammation. I was depressed and hoarding water weight like it was going out of fashion. Whilst having a whinge to my best mate, she mentioned that I should try the therapeutic diet 'ketogenic' - my Godson has been on it to control seizures, so she has been on it for the same amount of time so he doesn't see what he's missing out on. With nothing to lose, and at 144.2kg, I dove in head first.

In the last 3 months, I have lost 11kg (25lbs), stopped the bloating/water weight hoarding, my daily headaches have disappeared, and my joints move like they're supposed to again. I no longer crave sugar or carbs, and drink 2L of water every day because my body craves it. I'm amazed at how much better I feel. Now, I still have 70kg to lose, but I finally feel like I have a tool to do it.

Good job! What a wonderful reward to feel so much better day to day :)

We’re similar in weight I think, my all-time high was 140kg and I previously lost down to 88kg but got sidetracked (a couple of years ago). Back on the horse now and currently at 114kg (176 cm) with approx 40kg loss to go.

Keep at it and feel free to friend me if you like!
