Afraid to weigh myself

I started a weight loss journey about two weeks ago. At first I was putting in a weight I thought I was (165) and was eating according to that. Last Saturday, about 5 days after I started eating better and tracking I weighed myself and I was 17 pounds heavier than I thought so I could actually be eating more. I adjusted my weight here and have been going by that since.
Tomorrow I am supposed to weigh in but I am terrified that I have gained weight or it won’t move at all. I’m so nervous for it. Also should I weigh in after I workout or before? Before I guess due to water weight. I have a nervous stomach because of it. Any support is greatly appreciated!

Your best option is to weigh as soon as you wake up, after using the bathroom and before eating/drinking anything. As for if you maintain/gain weight...it will eventually happen. Weight loss isn't linear, especially as a woman. As long as your logging is as accurate as possible and you're looking at the overall trend rather than what happened in between two points, you'll be fine.4

I hear exactly what you are saying! I said the same thing 2 weeks ago - I was terrified of getting on that scale because I had been working my tail end off and eating like a mouse. BUT - I was happy and lost 12 lbs in a little over 2 weeks.
I was supposed to weigh again today, but didn't go into work (I work for a Healthcare company and we have clinic on site) - so I decided to use a digital scale here at home this evening and it said I haven't lost a single lb. the last two weeks! I am so dissapointed but I am hoping the scales are a little different. There is no way I haven't lost weight the last two weeks. My clothes fit differently and everything is falling off.
My fingers are crossed for a better weigh in on Monday !!!1 -
Feel you, girl. I didn’t own a scale for two years so when I finally bought one a week ago, I was horrified when I saw I was 15 lbs heavier than I assumed.. This is tough but we got it<32

It's very possible you are losing fat and gaining muscle which will make you lean out instead of drop numbers on a scale. I'd take some before pics and measurements and then take monthly progress photos to help you see your progress3 -

She weighed at a different time on a different scale, which will skew results. And it's next to impossible to gain muscle in a calorie deficit.0 -
I finally weighed in today using my Dr.s scale, the same one I have been using - and I lost 4 lbs. ! so happy -0

It's difficult for women to put on muscle - and certainly not in two weeks. She didn't mention lifting, which would help but she still didn't gain muscle in two weeks.
OP, great job on losing four pounds. Keep it going. No need to eat like a mouse or kill yourself at the gym, though. Moderate exercise, set your Goals to "lose one pound per week," like the site suggests. Eat a couple hundred extra when you do an hour of exercise. If you're suffering, you're doing it wrong!0 -
