Hey guys! I have a special occasion today, we’re going out of town & we’re going to a baseball game & watching in a suite! I love trying new foods restaurants while traveling! I like to track no matter what just to hold me accountable, but I was debating on switching my goal to maintenance just for the day, that way I can track, enjoy myself, but still not go off the rails!
Does anyone switch to maintenance for special occasions? Has it effected your weight loss significantly?

you don't have to switch your goal to maintainance - just go out, enjoy and get back on the horse tomorrow7

I had friends who came to town last Sat. We went to a buffet for supper. I didn't log at all that day (not even the exercise I did) but just started again Sun.2

Yep, and nope.2

I mean, I wouldn't actually change my goal in the app to maintenance for one day and then change it back. But sure, I allowed myself to go up to my maintenance calories on occasion while I was losing. I'd also sometimes eat 100 less calories each weekday to "save" 500 cals for a weekend splurge at other times.0

The MFP police will NOT arrest you for running a red balance!
Of course eating more on any one particular day will have a temporary effect.
A negligibly sized one when you look back at your year, or even month, in review.5 -
I've never physically changed my goal in MFP to maintenance. But example today I am eating maintenance.
I ate out today and I could log each food I ate, but I want a day off my logging and dealing with details honestly. If I go over or if I come a tad under its okay.0 -
Request denied. For you special occasion you will be restricted to rice cakes and celery.6

I wouldn’t actually change my goal In mfp but yes I take breaks0

Do it. Don't need to change your goal in MFP. I always keep mine at 1400 and eat anywhere from 1400-30000

Eating at maintenance for one day will delay your reaching your ultimate goal weight by one day, approximately.
Only you know whether any one special day is worth that delay. For me, some were. In fact, a few very special days - my 60th birthday, for one - were worth more delay than that.0 -
I don't change my calorie goal but know what my maintenance calories are and can have a maintenance day.0

I had a maintenance day today. A client of my husband gave us a gift card to a local steakhouse and I had a "gonna need sweatpants" type of meal, but it probably won't put me much over maintenance if at all. I won't even notice it.0

If you want to have a day at maintenance, go for it.
I go by the saying -eat what you want in moderation!
Its not the end of the world if your at maintenance or above for one day. I believe it's actually important to learn how to incorporate treats along with a healthy well balanced diet. Learning how to moderate and use portion control are good ideas for long term success .3
