Freddie Mercury Moment

So, my fiancee and I completed P90 6 weeks ago, and just started up P90 master series. Before that, she was running 6mi or so daily, and I was hovering around a 5k.

Well, tragedy struck saturday morning. I woke up poorly rested, and went into one of the cardio workouts. About 10 seconds into the warmup (ballistics) I feel my left oblique turn into a fireball. Ow. At that point I can no longer put weight on it, I can't turn my torso, if I try I let out a yelp and feel like someone knocked the wind out of me. Couldn't do pushups because of the pressure on my core, couldn't do ab stuff. Basically, I wasn't able to do any of the video. So, I decided I'd hit the treadmill and walk while my fiancee did the workout.

After a few I realized I could jog, so I stopped, grabbed running shoes, and hit the treadmill for real. Ended up running 3 miles saturday, and 3 miles sunday. This morning I felt mostly in tact, so back to normally scheduled program.

But still, running 3 miles after not running for over 4 months? General conditioning rocks!

Impressive! It's always amazing when we realize what we can do because we strive to maintain our fitness.

This story made me think of an incident that occurred about 6 months ago. I had an appendectomy and a week or so later in the course of overcompensating for the tenderness in my abdomen, I tore a muscle deep in my back. It hurt to cough or take deep breaths. One morning, the pain was so sharp that in the process of brushing my hair I passed out. Fireball, indeed!

Ouf! Sounds like you damaged some intercostals. That is the worst!
