I'm going to the Doctor later today but I wanted to write here to see if anyone has had similar circumstances. I keep getting irregular heartbeats and tightness in my chest somewhat randoms. Out of the four times that it has happened, 2 of which was going from a 30 minute jog to a 5 minute walk. As soon as I have slowed down the shortness of breath and irregular beat hit me. Anyone else have something like this?

I had. I got checked out by a cardiologist and He gave me a clean bill of health but I had to cut back on the caffeine.

I hope it is something easy like that for you <3

I have an irregular heartbeat, but I’ve never had shortness of breath or tightness in my chest so I’m not sure if I have the same issue that you do. Hopefully you can get some answers from your doctor.

Same here. Mine are preventricular contractions, which are fairly benign, at least in my case. I've never had tightness or shortness of breath, and I've never really had them during exercise. They are usually brought on by stress, anxiety, or caffeine, and sometimes when I run up the stairs and then stop or lay down. I also got them more often in my first trimester when I was pregnant.

I used to have an irregular heartbeat (it was discovered when I was 2 years old), and despite getting a clean bill of health and military training, had similar experiences on occasion.

Then, when I was testing for my black belt and training like crazy (way worse than any of my military training), and ended up getting into "super fit" state and really pushing past those barriers - it went away. I noticed it a couple times after several years of not working out (at all) and once I returned to regularly working out, it went away almost immediately and hasn't come back since. Too many doctor visits last year with a broken leg/pilon fracture and 4 subsequent surgeries, it was never mentioned or noticed, so pretty sure at least right now it's non existent.

Mine are PVCs too. I seem to get them during periods when I am more active or working out regularly (but typically only while at rest), but when I go through periods that I am less active, I don't notice them much, if at all.

Agree with others... the shortness of breath is more concerning. Sometimes with PVCs, if feels like your heart "skips a beat" and there is a long pause before a rather forceful beat. At times, this can "take my breath away", but it's not an actual breathing issue. How long do these episodes last?

My irregular heartbeat is not exercise-induced.

I had a bunch of tests and wore a monitor for two weeks.

I'm taking a low dose of beta blockers (which make me sleepy so I take at bedtime), got my anemia under control, cut down on caffeine, and get the irregular heartbeat much less.

I would definitely see your Dr.

I get heart palpitations and irregular beat when my potassium is really low.

Yeah, that’s pretty much exactly what I have. I’ve had them during exercise (very rarely) but they happen mostly if I do a short burst of activity and then stop, like you mentioned running up the stairs. I also get them on the first day of menstruation for some reason. My doctor said it’s normal.

I’ve had lots of blood work and my potassium (and everything else) is always fine, so the only thing I can really do to limit them is not have caffeine (I drink only decaf coffee and tea and have very little chocolate).
