Of course it can be done. Depends how bad you want it. Healthy food may seem more expensive but in the end it's really not and even if it was, aren't you worth it?? If you think about it, you may spend more up front but you can usually get 3 or 4 meals out of 2 lbs of chicken and a head of cauliflower. <insert whatever veggie>
Watch for sales, the produce on sale is the produce in season. Buy meats/nuts/seeds in bulk and separate it out. I eat a couple of hard boiled eggs most every morning, they are usually pretty cheap. Buy frozen veggies, they are almost as nutritional as fresh and cost less.
If you have an Aldi's or something similar, their produce is really good and cheap. The cheese is good there and also cheaper. I get lunchmeat, dairy, eggs, produce and frozen veggies there. I got to a meat counter to get my meat. I save quite a bit doing it this way. Just a little planning and learning what works for you makes all the difference in the world.
Good luck!
ETA: I lost 104 lbs just through diet/calorie counting and exercise. I know it can be done.2 -
