Right calories for me

I have decided that 1400 calories is just the right amount for me. Currently I am set to lose 2lbs a week. The more I lose the less weight per week I will lose. 1400 is perfect for me because I can fit my ice cream and peanut butter into my goals. I will remain in a deficit until I hit my goal weight and based on a few calculations I have done and a few calorie calculators I should hit my goal weight around Thanksgiving. Maybe sooner maybe later. I am glad that I found my sweet spot.
Edit: I am not saying that I will lose 2lbs per week from here on out at 1400 calories. I am saying that currently 1400 calories is 2lbs per week. As I lose weight the gap will close and I will lose more slowly. As time moves on naturally I will go from 2lbs to 1.5 to 1 to .5 without changing my calorie intake all the damn time. I am comfortable with this amount. I will eat more when I need to eat more. I know eating too little is bad and can cause all kinds of problems.

Don't be negative. If it's calories in calories out like everyone says and 1400 is below my goal weight maintenance then why won't it happen.7 -
Did MFP give you 1400 calories @ 2lbs/week or did you? That's a very aggressive goal5

MFP did. I'm just going to keep it at that.4 -
How much weight do you want to lose? Just curious. If you're sharing your plan it's helpful to know more details if you want helpful feedback.0

I think it's a great idea.
Try it and see how it goes. People like to be contrary. It's my normal way too but I agree with you on this plan.
Eat a bit more on the exercise days, though. 1400 is quite low.2 -
Is 2lbs a week a reasonable goal for you?2

because weight loss is not linear and the less weight you have to lose, the longer it takes. Having 10 pounds to lose is much different than having 100 pounds. At 100 pounds to lose, you can fairly easily sustain a 2/lb a week weight loss (all things relative). With 10 .... losing that much per week is unhealthy and not likely.2 -

LOL. If it is going to take her till Thanksgiving, doubt she has only 10 pounds to lose.
Although...it did take me nine months to lose the last ten, but I didn't plan it that way. I was just hungry.3 -

I will only be losing 2lbs per week for a short time. Naturally as I lose weight the weight will come of more slowly. So at 1400 calories right now is 2lbs in say 10lbs from now it will be about 1.5lbs per week then 1lb per week then .5lb per week. See how that works. Read what I wrote initially. I said the more I lose the less I'll lose per week. I didn't say I'll stay at 2lbs per week for the duration. As you lose weight your body needs less calories.2 -

right but as you get closer, with less weight to lose, the progress is slower.
trust me, the first 100 went fast (2 years give or take).
the last 15 and im like yeah you know ..... 15 pounds isnt a HUGH difference in my world, i think i might be okay here LOLOLOLOL1 -

Been losing 2lbs a week so far. Was about to change my goal to 1.5lbs a week when I realized I like 1400 calories I feel great and never feel hungry and it's still a deficit for my maintenance goal weight. If I'm wrong about this I'll adjust accordingly.2 -

Days where I burn a lot I eat more. In fact Sunday I worked really hard and burned so many calories when I got home from work I ate and finished off my day with nearly 2k calories. I have been learning how to listen to what my body is trying to say to me. I finally understand (most of the time) between real hunger and emotional hunger. However, on days I do nothing 1400 is plenty.1 -
To keep hormones and negative effects in check - will probably want to be prepared to do this.

I've been reading about diet breaks and I have a 10 day break planned for May 21st until the 31st. Then another one planned for August.2 -

I started out at 204.4 today I weigh 179. That's 25lbs since February 13th. That's actually more than 2lbs per week. The first 3 weeks I dropped weight like crazy the first week alone I lost 5lbs. I'm sure a lot was water weight. After the 3rd week it's been consistent at about 2lbs. I log everything and weigh everything. I workout 3 to 5 times a week. I am still considered obese for another 5lbs. I will probably be able to lose another 2lbs this week and then the amount will slowly taper off and I'll lose less and less each week.1 -

Here's a predictor that I have seen in this forum many times. This is not the only site I have used. I have also used different formulas at different weights for my journey. They all predicted about the same time frame. If I wanted to be too aggressive I'd keep dropping my calories even further.1 -

Indeed you will - which is the fact most prediction estimates can't take in to account.
And it's always a better result on the body for you to purposely back off the weight loss rate, than have it forced on you because of stressed out body.
Workouts usually better then, transforming you more than weight alone would appear to cause.0 -
best of lluck to you.
as i said, check back in on thanksgiving and lets us know where youre at1 -
I lost on a steady calorie goal also. No option really as I am small so got 1200, plus exercise cals, for 1 lbs a week initially and just had to run with it until I had lost the 30lbs I wanted to lose.
Those last 10-5lbs will be incredibly slow, so don't be disappointed if you are not quite at your goal by thanksgiving.
It is a nice way to lose weight. Eventhough mine was accidental, and yours is chosen, there is nothing wrong with the method.
Cheers, h.4 -

My goal is to lose another 34 to 44 lbs by November to December depending on how I look and feel. As long as I lose 25 more lbs by then I will have succeeded.2 -
I love the way you're analyzing your goals and working to understand what to expect. And that you're open minded and realistic about changes that will inevitably come.
Do come back as you progress and give us some updates. Even if you don't exactly make your goal by Thanksgiving, I'm betting you'll be very pleased with your progress anyway.
All the best to you.2 -

Because I just wanted to say what I said. I didn't ask for advice or feedback. I was making a statement about my plans.3 -

No it's not a troll post. I didn't ask a question. I was making a statement. I was just saying I figured out what works best for me. Didn't ask people to tell me that I am doing anything wrong or mock me.1 -
Ignore the snarky responses, some people can't help but be miserable. I think you've got the right idea to not starve yourself or deprive yourself, that isn't sustainable. Good luck to you!!2
