Hi,

I was just wondering how everyone learnt about what they know about fitness and diet? There seem to be a lot of knowledgeable here on the MFP forums!

I have no clue what I am doing, so where did other newbies to the fitness world find out where to start and continue?

I started with magazines like Women's Health, Self, Shape, Oxygen. Over the past 20 years Ive also bought many diet books like "The Zone", "Body for Life", "South Beach Diet", "Forks over Knives", "This is why you're fat", etc. I've been vegan, vegetarian, no carb, no fruit, and everything in between. I think I have finally figured out what works for me and the foods my body personally needs to look and feel good.
There is no one size fits all in my opinion.
I think the fitness and health magazines are a good place to start. They usually have the latest research available to back up their articles. Go with your gut. If it sounds wacky (never eat a piece of fruit again in your life), or too good to be true (drop 30pounds in 2 weeks by doing "this'), it probably will not work in the long run.
Best of luck on your journey to good health and happiness!!
