Strong lifts 5 x 5??

I've been seeing a lot of this program, but I haven't been able to find just basic information about it. People are ranting and raving about it.

I'm looking for a heavier lifting program to get away from low weights.

I'm up to hear any advice!

Thanks!

    Have you tried http://stronglifts.com/ ?
  • If you go to the StrongLifts website and sign up, they will send you a large PDF book that pretty much lays out the entire program. Its got some good information in it. I have done a variation of the program to try to increase my Benchpress, Deadlift, and Squat. You Squat 3 times a week in this program but it is very well planned out. If you are trying to get into lifting heavier, I think its a good place for you to start.

You realize that you, yourself can progress anytime you feel you should right? 5X5 is a guided program where you progressively add on weight each week on all major compound lifts.

    Workout A Workout B
    Squat 5×5 Squat 5×5
Bench Press 5×5 Overhead Press 5×5
    Barbell Rows 5×5 Deadlift 1×5

    3x a week, alternate workouts.

Start with the empty bar and work up.

If you have a smartphone, I recommend getting the Stronglifts app.

Check out videos on form to make sure you're doing each lift correctly.
