TDEE and Apple Watch

I’m wondering if anyone knows (or can point to an article or such) that talks about the accuracy of the Apple Watch TDEE.
I wear my watch daily and for all my fitness work, based on my watch my TDEE fluctuates from 2500 - 3000, depending on what workouts I did. Average seems to be about 2800.
I’m losing at a reasonable rate, and not really looking to change anything. Just curious!

Your closest estimate of your actual tdee is calories eaten over a period of 4 to 6 weeks + (weight trend change * 3500) divided by number of days.
All the tools that we use are based on population studies. If you take a few million users they will probably track quite closely as a group. But any one individual? Who knows!
So your own carefully calculated results are the only thing that's meaningful for you!0 -
The only study i'm aware of on the topic is http://www.mdpi.com/2075-4426/7/2/30
