I'm going for an ultrasound today (NOT baby, other female stuff), and I have to drink 32 oz. of water by 9:45 and NOT go to the bathroom until after the ultrasound at 10:45!! I don't have a problem with drinking all that water (I usually drink 24 in the morning). But geez, it's gonna be hard to hold it in that long! Any tips, besides not thinking about rivers, lakes, etc.?? :-) Wish me luck!

For me I tried to stay busy as one time I realised that I was making is worse because I was thinking of it too much so I tried to keep my mind occupied for the time that I had to wait. Good luck !!

Could you eat some salty foods to help you retain some of the water?

I recently had ultrasound done to look at the cysts on my ovaries...........

My advice is to drink the water on the way to the clinic. Waiting that hour is going to be a killer if you drink it by 9:45.

The office I had mine done at just told me to drink the 32 oz of water, never said it had to be done an hour prior to the procedure. I actually drank it on the way to the clinic and finished it up when I got there..........

That's what I was going to say. They didn't say you had to drink it 2-3 hours ahead of time.
Take a bottle with you, and at 9:30-09:40 drink the rest of the water.

Thanks all! I survived. Finished my water bottle (so a total of 48 oz) in the car on the way to the ultrasound. Wasn't TOO uncomfortable. :embarassed: But I was glad to be done! And the Tech said I did a good job of filling my bladder.
