Hey guys,

So I'm completely new to this. I use to be very activate and in much better shape and unfortunately after an injury and some complications I've let myself go. After a bit of a health scare last week I really can't make any more excuses, and am at the point where I have to make a change now. It's difficult after living one way for so long to make a change, but I'm trying to get into the keto diet and planning on adding intermittent fasting a little down the road, don't want to set myself up for failure by trying everything all at once. Fortunately I do have a friend from work who's helping me figure this out, but as everything on here says that having more support, encouragement, and accountability helps I figured what the heck.

Hi Todd. I'm in the same boat as you by the sounds of it. I've been logging for 45 days and so far have lost just over 9kg (about 20 pounds). If I can do it anyone can :) I'm not using keto or anything -- just making sure my daily calories are just under what MFP says I should be eating. Good luck!

Almost everybody in here says that having a good plan - focus what you have to do, and ignore noise - is essential.

If you use your food diary, and a food scale, and hit the amount of calories MFP gave you, you'll lose weight. Trying to do lots of other things at the same time, will only make eating less, which is essential, harder.

The Keto is a great diet but don't be afraid to try new things. There isn't a one size fits all diet or workout so find what is easiest for you to follow and keep you focused. Always start off slow when working out so you don't hurt yourself. It will take time to get your body back into the swing of things. Sometimes the mind is more willing than the body so definitely listen to your body. Best of luck!
