Water

Some sources say I should count other beverages, such as coffee and tea, as part of my “water” intake. Other sources say not to count anything except water.

Should I count coffee or not?

I don't fully get the purpose of counting water, as so many things we eat and drink contribution to our overall hydration level (yes, food too!). If it makes any difference to your decision, your body is counting the water in coffee and tea to meet your overall hydration levels, so why not?

You don't really need to count water, but if you want to all drinks and lots of foods are hydrating so you can count your coffee.

Most drinks still have at least 90% water. Do it if you want to.

Just stay hydrated, that's what's important. You get hydration from all kinds of beverages as well as food.

I have never kept track of my fluid intake. I just pay attention to my urine. If it's clear or light yellow I'm good. If it's dark then I need to up my fluids. To answer the question though, if I was tracking water I would count coffee the same as water since I drink it black and, well, it's pretty much water.
