Hey everyone. Ive had pretty constant lower back pain for about 5 years now and i was curious if after losing about 40 lbs (which is how much i want to lose) if the pain would subside or if bodyweight didnt play much of a role in most back pain.

According to the doctors, it plays a huge role. At the same time, I find that physical therapy has helped alleviate my pain and make it possible to get more physical activity.0

I’m not a Dr, but I believe the general consensus is that if you weigh less, there is less pressure on all areas of your body, back included, so that can help alleviate pain. Note the word “can” though- I think a lot depends on what’s causing the pain- I have a long history of back problems which I’ve had a range of treatments for, including a couple of surgeries. My advice would be to talk to your Dr and get an accurate diagnosis of what it is that’s causing the pain.
