“I am a sculptor. I am sculpting myself out from base clay. Each new line of muscle, each vein or tendon, each sharp edge of bone that emerges under my tools is a testament to months of struggle and aching care. I am a sculptor, and this is my body that I have made.

“I am an explorer. I am exploring a new world of self. Who is she, this person who walks up hills, who stands solid in Warrior Pose, who walks long-strided through a world of approving glances? What are her bounds, her natural wealths, her needs? I am an explorer in an exciting new wilderness, and this wilderness is my home.

“I am an artist, learning how to paint clothes and accessories on the new canvas of my body. A watercolourist learning to work in oils, I struggle and I fail and I triumph. The paint is sticky on my fingers, rather than flaky, and it comes strangely off the brush. But I am painting a masterpiece, and it is me.”

...generally comes out of my mouth as ‘yeah, it feels pretty good’. Because holy hell, how am I meant to sum up this kind of life change in a sentence for a curious stranger?! Anyone got any nifty one-line replies that I could steal?

Love this one. Some of this is way too cringe-y for me!

Tell them you found your why.

If you can answer honestly why you want to lose weight, that gives you the motivation to figure out the next step - the how to lose weight, which is easy CICO. Also answering the why gives you the motivation when things don't go right to get back up and continue on.

I think everyone is looking for the easy how part which if it existed no one would be here.

Maybe it's just me, but I would be tempted to answer sarcastically "I feel like crap having lost so much weight" as if to say "well, duh, how do you think I feel losing weight?"

It's a simple, honest question that deserves a simple, honest answer. "It feels great."
