Stressed

I’m back on my weight loss journey. I did good today, but what sends me back into mayhem is my work stress levels. I worked on cleaning at home, which helps, but I want to be making consistent progress every day. I bought groceries to be prepared for the coming week.

Add yoga and make sure you're working out in ways that you enjoy. Physical activity is so awesome for stress.

I can for sure relate to the stress. Had my physical and gained 20 of my 30 pounds lost 2 years ago with fitpal. Back on here and lost 3 pounds in 2 weeks. You don't realize how much you put in your mouth until you write it down. Then by dinner i know just how many calories are left. I've been dealing with Physical and emotional stress. Until that is gone ...baby steps. Don't look at a 1 pound loss each week as nothing. Think about it as a 4 pound loss in a month. Still not excited? 4 pound loss or 4 pound gain letting stress win. I'm 62, lost both my mom and mother in law last year and had knee replacement gone bad. If I can get back on the horse so can you kiddo!

I have a pretty high stress job, too (not life and death or anything, but sometimes people act like it is) and what I found worked best for me was a little counterintuitive: spend less time working. I get out during the workday for at least half an hour (usually more) to just walk and forget about work. If someone tries to schedule a meeting during my time, I tell them no. If I need to do anything at night, I schedule a block of time (say 9-11pm) and that’s it. I don’t care if the world is burning, I turn off my computer at 11. I’ve found that by working fewer hours and setting some clear boundaries, I’m better able to focus on the important things and actually get more done even though I’m devoting less time. A lot less time running around like a chicken with its head cut off, a lot more time focused on achieving specific objectives and completing important tasks.
