How many of you stick to a 1200 calorie a day diet.?As well sticking to high protein and low carbs. Do you find it difficult? I’m trying to stay at 1200 but I do go up to 1500 sometimes. There are also days where I slip and go above that. I’m still losing weight though. I was just wondering what others were doing to lose weight.

If you are just starting out it can be difficult to go from not counting calories at all to going straight to 1200. I'd say the first couple of weeks I felt pretty hungry and not satisfied but after that I got used to it. I do about 1200-1300 a day now and it's always enough, you get used to what foods you can eat and how full youll feel and that feeling of hunger gets less daunting.
1200 is the lowest that MFP will let you go, so if that is your calorie limit make sure there is a good reason for it. For example mine was put that low becasue I'm not over weight, only want to trim up about 15 pounds, and I have a desk job so my daily activity level is low, and I'm short and young.
So make sure 1200 makes sense for your situation as well.
Also your calorie limit is an estimate at best, other calculators will give different results. you can try this one as well:

But if 1200 seems like it should be your goal then give it a couple weeks to get used to.0 -
When I was initially losing weight I was on 1240/day. Now I'm at a 1/2 pound loss/week so my calorie count is a bit higher. I did pretty well with the 1240, especially if I stayed away from fast food. What really helped me though was working out, it added just enough calories for me to feel full and have a treat. I lost weight at a good rate so it must've worked right! And by the way, I absolutely had days where I was higher than 1240 - it's inevitable with life. I did not count protein or carbs, I eat everything in moderation.0

1200 can be tough to stick to, and in very few cases is it necessary. im 5'1 and 40 years old and lose a pretty consistent 2 pounds a week eating around 1350. i do eat back exercise calories IF i am hungry, if im not, i dont worry about it.1

Thanks for the feedback. I feel refreshed about how many calories I should stick to. I think no more than 1500 will be suitable for me0
