Losing weight but look and feel the same );

Hi, Im 23 , I have 3 children and I have been up and down with my weight for years. I had my first child very young. During that time I gained a ton of weight, about 50 lbs to be exact! After I had my daughter I was very determined to get the weight off and I did! Right back down to 125lbs in 8 months. I had my son and did the same exact thing and lost it in no time. I had my last child (3rd child)...did the same thing lost it in no time! Only this time I let a "friend" convince me to GAIN weight because SHE thought i looked too thin (biggest mistake I've ever made!) So now im in the process of losing it again. I got up to 155 and then realized "this is stupid and I need to get my body back!" I started my diet back in May 2013 and it is now august 2013 I've lost about 25 lbs just by cutting my calories eating anywhere from 800-1000 calories per day (same amount I've eaten every time I lost the weight) my exercise is moderate i do alot of running around with the kids/cleaning and light exercise here and there (same as before) and while the scale says one thing the mirror says something totally different! I just don't get it. And friends and family hardly notice a difference. By the way Im 5'7 so 126 is considered a "small frame" yet i feel and look like a large fitting into medium clothing. I don't even eat meat anymore! Completely took that out of my diet. One of the worst feelings in the world is putting in hard work and seeing little to no results. Someone please help me understand this please

from your pic id have to say look fanfriggintastic!! the mirror lies. i never see a change in it either. however when i look and compare pictures from before my losses to now i can definitely see huge differences in what i look like.0

I'm in the same boat, I'm down about 44 lbs and I don't feel any different or see a difference in the mirror but I agree, looking at pictures does help! Confidence that the scale doesn't lie has helped me, I figure once I start having some NSV's that my mind will catch up to my body0

5'7 125 sounds pretty good. I'm guessing most ladies on the site would kill for that combo.
What kind of changes are you looking for?
Are you tired/run down all the time?0 -
I dont think you're eating enough....you only eat approx 900 calories a day, that's not enough to fuel your body. I looked through your diary and for lunch and dinner, all you eat are a few crackers. Your body is going to hold on to every thing you eat because it's not being nutriously supplemented.
Instead of eating crackers and processed foods, try more natural stuff.0 -
Yes i was feeling tired/deprived because i was limiting my calories to 900 and exercising ontop of that. Very depressed as well, i am excited to say that i have been on the alternate day diet for one ONE week and have already lost an additional 2 1/2 lbs !! I have much much more energy now and am actually losing faster than i was on a complete starvation diet!
As far as my goal goes, Im reaching for 118 but i need to tone as well, Im being light on the exercise until i reach my goal weight because from what I've heard/seen its much easier to tone and get in shape when you're carrying around less weight. So for now I've just been doing some light walking cleaning and running around after the kids. Lol ill be posting a topic about the alternate day diet to see if anyone else has tried and how much success they've had!
THANKS FOR YOUR ADVICE! Hope I've helped as well0 -
Thank you so much , i guess i just need to exercise more!0

Thanks for your advice! I have been on a much better diet , i started the alternate day diet where you fast one day and eat a regular set if calories the next day (about 2000) and i have already lost almost 3lbs! I also have alot more energy than before! I definitely would recommend this diet. Very easy. And less starving and guilt! I will be posting a topic on it ,
THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR RESPONSE!0 -
Why did you cut meat out? That likely also cut your protein quite a bit and caused you lose more muscle than normal. So you may weigh the same as before but actually be bigger. Muscle is heavier than fat so the ratio of fat to muscle can change your size while at the same weight. I'd suggest adding meat back (unless you gave it up for reasons other than weight loss) and taking measurements. Inches are what you see in the mirror, not pounds.0

No, not really.
Lifting ensures you maintain as much muscle mass as possible. Maintaining muscle mass is where "tone" comes from. "Tone" is the appearance of muscle as the layers of fat disappear. If you don't do something to maintain that muscle, you will have to put that muscle back on. Gaining muscle mass is extremely difficult and after dropping weight you'll need to eat at a surplus to do so.
Why not go through the work now to maintain what you have while the fat disappears rather than going through all of the work that's needed to put it back on later?0 -
I take weekly progress pictures. You might not notice any difference, but compare week 1 to week 5 and you might see a big difference. It's what keeps me personally motivated.0

I've been doing tons of research on lifting bulking/cutting ..... I've learned so much and everything I thought...was pretty much wrong! I should have been lifting heavy to maintain the muscle I did have .... Now i have to gain it back0

You are absolutely right and I think my body held on to most of the fat And lost muscle thus giving a flabby saggy look. I've added meat back and started weight lifting , I'm even considering a short bulk to help gain back lost muscle! Thanks for your help !0
