Hi ! I'm a 49 y/o female, 5'7". I started at 232 on March 26 and am now 214. Slowly but surely it is coming off. I have a goal of being under 200 by June 26th (vacation and husband is requesting a bikini). At the rate I'm losing I'm concerned I'll be lose but not quite there. Any suggestions to help me reach my goal?

Are you already consistently logging your meals and hitting a specific calorie goal?1

Great work! Goals are good to have but as long as you’re making progress try not to get too hung up on the number. How you feel and know your efforts is what really matters! What do you want to wear?4

Congrats on your progress so far!
15 lbs in 6 weeks is more than 2 lbs per week, so I'll be the bad guy and say it's not a very realistic goal. Not saying it's not possible but in general, you shouldn't expect to lose more than 1% of your body weight per week, and even hitting that 1% is a pretty aggressive pace. Losing as much as you did is NOT slow, it's actually rather fast!
While not always the case, losing as fast as is humanly possible often means a greater chance of muscle loss and saggy skin. As a woman in my 40s myself, I know protecting muscle mass and skin elasticity is really important at this point, because it's harder for us to get it back if we lose it. And dieting at breakneck speed and then going on vacation may leave you tired, hangry, and not feeling great on your trip. If your long term goals are important to you, you might want to readjust your short term goals.
So I guess my suggestion is to rethink your goal, sorry Having said that, in order to make sure you lose an optimal amount of weight over the next few weeks, log accurately and consistently (weighing out portions, double checking the entries you are using in the database are accurate, etc) and consider adding strength training if you haven't. I'm sorry if my reply is a downer. Good luck, and enjoy your vacation :drinker:6 -
You've lost almost twenty pounds in 6-7 weeks. That is not slow by FAR!
I would just aim for two pounds a week and log everything as accurately as possible. Even if you don't meet your goal, you've made incredible progress so far. After vacation, I would lower your rate of loss to help preserve your muscle mass.1 -
I don't know how to reply to each person individually. janejellyroll, yes I'm logging everything even if I can't find the exact thing I am estimating on the high side. vallary14, I am happy with my progress, thank you for your encouragement. If I don't get to my goal exactly It'll be ok, I'll just be happy with a steady downward decline. My husband requested the bikini and bought me a sarong so I'd be more comfortable. I'd love to wear it for him and for me. All that matters is that he loves me as I am no matter what. I won't know anyone on our vacation so I'm going to "own it" and if other people think I look terrible then that's on them. I am just proud of myself for working hard to be healthier. kimny72 and malibu927, I am happy with what I've accomplished don't get me wrong and I know I'm more likely to keep it off if I go slow so I'll still be happy with whatever weight loss I have, it would just be nice to get to the first goal by then. Your both right though, it may not be what's best for me. Thanks for the encouragement and the wake up call.3
