Hi community,

I have a question...I received an extra thousand calories to eat since hitting 10,000 steps today....I don't think I should eat them. What do you guys do?

I ate pretty much all my exercise calories while losing weight . . . some people say exercise calories taste the best. ;)

Starting with eating back 50% is a good idea, then see how it goes over time. If you're not 500 calories worth of hungry to day, you can bank some to eat over the next couple of days if you prefer.

Since I'm a little leery of the exercise calories calculated by FitBit (mine were wildly inaccurate, but fortunately, I realized it right off), I would advise you to use caution in eating your exercise calories at first. I agree with eating only half back at first. Hopefully, over the next few weeks you'll get a feel for how accurately it's measuring for you. You can compare what your FitBit says you should have lost with what you actually lost, ie the FB tells you you've netted a pound of weight loss when you've actually lost .75 lbs or 1.5. Use your real-life experiences to help you figure out how to interpret the feedback you get from the device.

I eat about half of mine. I am set to lose 1lb a week but am closer to .5 at this point so I know my burn isn't really accurate. I am weighing my food so I know its not that.
