Diastasis recti

Hello! I am writing to inquire about diastasis recti after pregnancies. I had been diagnosed with a 3” gap and was told not to do abdominal exercises because it can hurt me more. I was wondering if anyone has had any similar issues and how do I get rid of my belly fat (there’s a lot of it lol) while being cautious of the diastasis gap!
Thank you in advance!

I would suggest seeing a physiotherapist who specializes in treating diastasis recti.1

How many months post pregnancy are you? Some gaps get better with time. I would push for that physical therapy referral.
As for the belly fat, addressing the gap will help improve the appearance of your tummy. However, your biggest change is going to happen through a calorie deficit.1
