What happened to cucumbers on the way to becoming pickles?
133 gm of cucumber has 20 calories. Pickles have zero per the database. Not that I'm eating a ton of cucumbers. Just curious.

The database is full of errors since most of it is user entered. Double-check any database entries that you use against the package or other sources.
It could also be that the type of pickle you investigated has a serving size small enough to have fewer than 5 calories per serving which can be rounded down to zero calories according to US labeling rules.1 -
This is the entry I use:

Almost all the pickles I have seen in the grocery store have 0 calories listed per serving. I am defiantly eating several servings worth!

"(i) The food contains less than 5 calories per reference amount customarily consumed and per labeled serving."0 -

Different entries in the database will give different amounts even raw cucumber to raw cucumber. They are user entered and some are wrong.
Manufacturers can call something zero calories if it is under 5 calories per serving. Since the calorie information is not given on the label it is not entered as having more calories if you eat a lot more.
There are many pickle entries that give calories actually.
