Nutritional info for when there is no label

When you guys buy a piece of meat/fish at the grocery store that doesn't have the nutritional info listed on the back of the package, do you go by what a site like nutrition data has for the calorie amount? For example, say I buy skinless boneless chicken breasts at Wegmans on my lunch break today, and I know they don't list the raw info for the meat. Would you just go on nutrition data and search for raw chicken breast and use the value on there for counting cals? The site says 30.8 cals per ounce of raw chicken breast, does that seem right? I know this is a pretty basic question, but I've never really bought anything with a nutrition label on it and I was just wondering. I'm using nutrition data as the example site because it doesn't have user inputs which may be inaccurate.

I use the web site published by the USDA for any meats. http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ you can access it from here

Just make sure you know how much of it they are giving you, and you should be able to calculate it accurately enough.

I have a food scale so I'm all good there. Thanks for the site, I will use it from now on when I have these types of situations.

Yes I would go by what the norm is for chicken.. chicken is chicken. 6 oz of chicken will have a certain amount of cals. Might be off by a few... but nothing significant. or for whatever meat you are getting.
