Background: I'm 5 months pregnant and about 60lbs overweight. I bought a pregnancy workout DVD and it has weightlifting exercises in it. And I bought some dumbbells that I can add up to 20 lbs. I started at just 5 lbs. I workout with the weights about twice a week.
Question: When should I start adding more weight to my dumbbells?

Your goal is to add weight at every workout--but with dumbbells, it won't work out because the increments are too large. But you want to be lifting all you can lift for the number of reps you are doing. If you get to the end of your reps and feel like you could lift it five more times--add weight. And good for you lifting weights! You are building muscle whether or not you are losing weight and that will be very good for you! Make sure you are eating well, getting enough quality food esp protein, so that you can grow those muscles AND that pretty baby.0
