Several years ago I lost a lot of weight and kept it off for like 6 years. I have put the weight back on over the last few years and am finally back on track losing 10 lbs in the last month with healthy eating and exercise. Anyone else in the same boat? I’m determined to keep going. Considering a lower carb diet but as of now I’m just calorie counting. Any advice appreciated!

Honestly, I have done this diet roller coaster dozens of times and I found that you really have to change your mindset about food. There is something "different" this time for me. I am eating foods I want to eat, still enjoying pizza and burgers and whatever I want, but I am viewing food as fuel, not as a reward or a treat or something that has to taste delicious every time.

Try to find what you can stick with. If you think you can do low carb, then do low carb. If you think that calorie counting works best, then stick to it. If you think that intermittent fasting, keto, macro, vegan, etc. will work, then do it and stick to it. The worst thing is to find something you really don't like but you "just do it to lose some weight" and then fall off at the end of it.

Find that niche that makes you feel good while keeping you happy and stick with it for life. That doesn't mean you can't change what you do in the future, but it should be something you can do for the long run.

    Good luck to you!

Is low carb something you plan on doing past the last 10 pounds lost? Is low carb the best strategy for fueling your activities and exercise? If its not, you want to eat in a way losing weight that will do when you maintain.

The last 10 pounds will be a slower loss, set MFP to lose .5 per week, be consistent with your weighing and logging food as well as your activity/exercise. Be patient, I might recommend a weight trending app. Fat loss at this slower rate can easily be masked by water fluctuations, but you will be able to see you are on track with food intake/exercise/activity seeing the overall downward trend.

If you are having trouble with hunger you may want to experiment with your macros. There is no reason to jump straight into the low carb pool though. You need to treat yourself as an individual not as part of some diet group. For instance, through various experiments I have determined I am fine being what I call "carb aware" and I don't the restrictions that come with being low carb.

You should make your road ahead as easy as possible on yourself and that means dealing with as few restrictions as you can. Eat what you want within a variety of food and nutrition will probably take care of itself.
