San Francisco 49 Year Old w/ Pug Obsession

Hello!
I am an almost-50 year old woman who lives in San Francisco by the ocean. I have a little pug who somehow makes it into every conversation I have ever had ever. Even at work, which is awkward and decidedly unprofessional.
I love food, needless to say. My approach is calories in/calories out, with my meals being the foods that I love, only smaller portions. In the past I've tried eating a million carrots to fill up, but it just didn't work. Which is not to say I don't love vegetables or chicken breasts or yogurt. I love it all! But only eating such foods left me feeling deprived. So my diary does have butter and cream and other foods I used to consider "off limits" if I wanted to lose weight. Finally, I had an eating disorder for almost 20 years, so trying to lose weight is a bit tricky. I need to lose 72 pounds, so I have a ways to go.
I love strength training. While too intimidated to go into the weight room at present, I plan on doing strength training classes, body weight activities and weights at home. I also love biking. I have a brand spanking new bike that I haven't even used yet. I named it Edwina. Normally I pretentiously name anything after literature characters (I LOVE to read more than anything else in my whole life), but for some reason I get a kick out of Edwina.
I have an MFA in writing, but writing is very hard for me and I'm a very, very lazy girl.
I'd like to make friends who are funny, love books and writing, adore dogs (or any furry creatures), and are at about my level (read: starting at the beginning again/out of shape/a little nervous about the journey). I favor friends who tell me a little about themselves in their friend requests.
Thank you for reading!
